Job Description:

Mesabi Metallics Company is searching for a candidate to fill a Mine Engineering or Geological Engineering position at our project site in northern Minnesota. The Mesabi project is located in Itasca County on the west end of the Mesabi Iron Range near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The Mesabi project is one of the largest construction and mining project in Minnesota history.

Job Description:

Applicants will be considered for the position based on their level of experience and communication skills. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in mine development, mineral resource evaluation and iron ore processing. The successful candidate will work closed with seasoned and experienced mining professionals to bring an important mine development into production. Interested candidates should have the following qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited Mine or Geologic Engineering School
  • A minimum level of Mine or Geologic Engineering experience is desirable.
  • Professional Licensing is desirable.
  • Good coordination skills and knowledge of various engineering disciples.
  • Knowledge of local city, county and state land use processes and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Mine Engineering Software; additional training will be provided.
  • Participate in mine planning activities, including pit design, drilling, and blasting operations, and mine development, while considering geological factors.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Software
  • A working knowledge GIS based software is desirable.
  • Ability to work with team members to complete plant construction and mine development.
  • Ensure all mining activities adhere to safety regulations and environmental standards. Implement best practices to minimize environmental impact.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the owners and other parties to provide all the technical support needed to complete the project.
  • Supervise and monitor critical work during the construction and mine development.
  • Maintain critical databases and project records.
  • Oversee commissioning of the mine equipment and monitor mine operations.
  • Interfacing with project managers, mining staff and mine operations, and providing support as needed.
