About the Opportunity

Palaris is looking for a full-time, remote Principal Mining Engineer within Canada, working on a 9-day fortnight schedule with no reduction in full-time salary.

As the successful candidate, you will engage in diverse work related to mine planning and financial analysis, working on both sides of the fence from the investor and lender perspectives or advising the owner's team on optimising their project for cost or carbon. You'll lead feasibility studies, conduct due diligence, and mentor junior staff, working collaboratively with a global team to deliver expert advisory services across multiple continents. This role offers flexibility and autonomy, requiring you to collaborate with global teams across various time zones to deliver exceptional mining and financial solutions.

We're committed to mentoring and fostering your development, empowering you to transition across various responsibilities, including project finance and M&A due diligence, construction and operational loan monitoring, decarbonization modelling, bottom-up financial modelling, or top-down 3rd party model review.

About You

To qualify, you will need an undergraduate degree in mining engineering and demonstrated project management skills, along with 10+ years of experience in mine planning.

Additionally, the following skills and experience will be highly valued:

Willingness to learn - financial modelling and decarbonisation process
On-site, hands-on experience in mining along with the design/planning processes
Underground and open-cut mining experience is ideal

Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for this client-facing role, as you'll be building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders and effectively convincing clients of your strategies and solutions. As a motivated self-starter, you'll excel in taking initiative and driving projects forward, while being eager to dip into new aspects of the mining industry.

Additionally, you should have an independent approach to work, be comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on both national and international projects, and be excited to fuel your own growth and expand your knowledge base. A personality that thrives on challenges, confidently navigates ambiguity, and embraces different working styles with ease is essential for fitting into the Palaris culture and becoming a trusted advisor in the global mining community.
