Make recommendations in the selection of material based on design objectives according to the application scheme, such as their material properties, resistance to elevated temperatures, resistance to deterioration from exposure to environmental conditions or to the service in which they are used. The recommendations are in conjunction with the cost/benefit analysis plans.
Carry out failure analysis of components and equipment in the oil industry through the analysis of data from laboratory tests and other field tests of equipment from various industrial plants to determine their causes and define mitigation measures to prevent recurrence of these failures.
Conduct mechanical, chemical and metallurgical analysis tests, planning and implementing laboratory projects to identify damage mechanisms, as well as preparing reports with the results of the tests and trials carried out, highlighting the relevant applicable recommendations.
Conduct tests on equipment base material (finished new products) and components exposed to services (pipe systems, plant equipment and associated components) to determine their quality and ensure their mechanical/structural integrity to remain in service.
Evaluate the nature of materials and manufacturing process used for the construction of frequently used equipment and components in the chemical plants and refineries and define new application windows for already known materials and alloys, as well as non-metallic materials.
The experience and education requirements are:
2 years of relevant experience
Certifications:
UT Level I
PT Level II
A Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering or a foreign equivalent
