Electrical Engineer II

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Onsite)

Duration: 12 Months with possible extension

Description :

The main function of an Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer is to investigate, troubleshoot, and then root cause defective Consumer Electronics such as computers, Virtual Reality Headsets, home electronics, wearables.

A typical Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer has the ability to apply principles and theories of electronics engineering, mechanical engineering and software engineering to reach a root cause and report findings.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform failure analysis on Consumer Electronics devices.

Replicate customer reported failure. Collect software logs.

Update and flash devices with new software and firmware.

Generate various test scenarios and collect failure data as needed.

Utilize diagnostic equipment to characterize failures signatures (oscilloscope, audio tester, thermal camera, microscope).

Test and disassemble devices according to engineering instructions, technical manuals and knowledge of electronics theories and components.

Isolate and Root Cause failures to module or component level.

Propose containment, corrective action or improvement solutions.

Write and present a Failure Investigation reports to cross functional teams.

Collaborate with various engineering teams (Quality, Electrical, Reliability, Software).

Receive, track and ship devices. Manage and report progress of devices under triage.

Skills :

Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.

Education/Experience:

Someone with skills we would be open to someone with an Associates.

Experience or desire to work with consumer electronics products

Experience with testing and repair of consumer electronics

Experience using failure investigation techniques (5 Why, Root Cause Tree Analysis ).

High attention to detail, hands-on and self-motivated

Proven ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance

Familiar with diagnostic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies and other standard lab equipment (microscope, hand soldering tools).

Experience with articulating engineering solutions to both technical and nontechnical cross-functional teams.

What does your team do/ story behind the role:

They investigate on returns for customer complaints that has to do with hardware

Day to day Operations

Typical day- will they be working with internal or external customers: Stakeholders:

Spend all their time in the lab, Receive shipments from lab. Open products, scan the serial # to find out what is wrong with the unit.

Investigate the problems, work with internal teams within meta for help.

Share this with engineers on problems.

Some unites can take 5 mins to 4 days.

This role requires you to be independent, creative and risks. Report to cross functional teams during meetings.

Create proposal for how they change things to better/Resolve problems.

How many years of overall experience are you looking for:

2-4years, Jr candidates are fine

Top 3 non-negotiable skills that are transferrable on a resume

Troubleshooting experience

Electrical software experience (basic coding or programing)
