Leidos Gibbs & Cox, has an opening for a Senior-Level Marine Engineer to support the USCG Ship Design Team. This position is a hybrid position with 2-3 days per week of onsite support at the USCG Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluate effect of new or modified subsystems on overall system performance.

  • Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS's), Request for Waiver (RFW), and Engineering Changes (EC's).

  • Familiarity with USN, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.

  • Conducting analysis and design of auxiliary systems. Depending on engineering background of candidate, the appropriate systems assigned may include one or more of the following: HVAC&R systems (including heating/cooling load, duct sizing and chill water piping calculations and equipment selection), auxiliary systems, power monitoring and control systems, electric propulsion, and power generation.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and must have an active secret clearance or be eligible to be granted one.

  • BS or MS in Technical, Engineering, or Marine degree from ABET accredited institution, related to field of work.

  • Minimum of 6 years' documented experience relating to the design of marine systems.

  • 1+ year of experience related to federal ship or boat building acquisition programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret Security clearance.

  • Additional certifications, such as PE License, PMP, DHS Systems Engineering Certification, or DHS Program Management Certifications.

  • Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs.

Pay Range: Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
