To help continue our success, we are looking for a full-time Mining Engineer for our corporate headquarters in Davenport, IA. This position is instrumental in developing, updating, and implementing short-term, intermediate, and long-term mine plans for open pit limestone and granite operations. Company operations are located in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. Candidates must be willing to work within all locations and travel as necessary (

Major Mining Engineer Responsibilities include (but not limited to);

  • Mine planning and design; to include short term overburden removal and mining sequences, and mid-term and "life-of-mine" plans.
  • Solicit input from, and communicate plans to, Operations Management.
  • Assist with the development of bid contract specifications, and requests for quotes.
  • Perform GPS, total station, bathymetry, and aerial drone surveys as the back-up, or occasional assistant to the Staff Surveyor.
  • Oversight and coordination of overburden removal projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Technical assistance for all operations to include slope stability analysis, hydrology and drainage projects, reclamation, and haulage/conveying analysis.

Mining Engineer Qualifications;

  • BS in Mining Engineering from a U.S. accredited University required.
  • 3+ years of experience in open pit mine design and planning required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D needed.
  • Surpac mine planning software experience preferred.
  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicle FAA license helpful.
  • GPS surveying experience helpful.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, written, and analytical skills required.
