Overview:
ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Atlanta team is looking for a Senior Transportation Engineer in the Transportation Design Department to join our growing team. The selected candidate could sit in one of our three Atlanta Offices (Midtown, Tucker, or Buford).

VHB's Transportation Design team has earned a reputation as one of the preeminent design teams in Georgia, working with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and numerous local governments in the State. This position provides an opportunity to be part of a team working on complex transportation projects for multiple clients and play an important role in expanding and our presence in the State. We are looking for someone with a blend of technical expertise, innovative thinking, and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

Serve as Senior Engineer for state and local clients.

Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the projects under design.

Manage work and develop and mentor junior staff, providing them with technical and professional guidance.

Monitor project performance.

Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss transportation design/permitting issues.

Execute scope associated with project delivery for transportation design projects for all stages from Concept Development to Final Design for letting.

Assist with strategy for expansion of transportation services in Georgia

Be part of developing new project opportunities and preparing/managing proposal submissions.

Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners.

Substantial technical and project management experience.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in transportation design.

Thorough knowledge of GDOT policies and practices, GDOT's PDP certification is a plus.

Advanced knowledge of local and state regulations governing transportation design.

Software exposure: MicroStation/AutoCAD and Open Roads Designer is a plus.

Qualifications

B.S. in Civil Engineering, transportation planning or similar discipline.

15+ years of professional transportation engineering experience, with at least 10 years of experience working in the Georgia market, required.

GA Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Proven success in the transportation and/or state & local government market sectors.
