Role: Maintenance Technician
Part Time
Job Grading

SCOPE OF JOB
To maintain and develop the site and the supporting systems to the highest possible standards and so that it does not present a risk to staff or visitors to the Attraction

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure the site is a safe attraction for staff and visitors
- Ensure that all the equipment is in full working order at all times and is covered by a consistent preventative maintenance program of works so that visitor satisfaction remains at or above a level of 95%. This will require close and effective liaison with the site team.
- Ensure site facilities and fabric of building are safe and in good working order at all times, and that adequate written risk assessments and safe working systems are developed and in place.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for maintaining and developing the site to the highest of standards.
- To do any other reasonable duty as detailed by the attraction management team.
- To follow opening and closing procedures as detailed in the department's operating plan.
- To maintain a pleasant and approachable manner towards our visitors at all times.
- To ensure all equipment and tools are kept in good condition and stored in one place.
- To complete daily Health and Safety, Fire checks and file documentation as required.
- To complete daily maintenance checks to include: light bulb check, painting, general repairs, etc.
- To assist with the maintenance of all site systems.
- To be proactive with the general cleanliness and tidiness of all behind the scenes areas in addition to public areas.
- To assist and give your input with the annual maintenance plan.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of new equipment involved in a new development or project at the site.
- To follow opening and closing procedures as detailed in the department's operating plan.

Qualifications
- Some knowledge of the practices, tools, and equipment used to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment.
- Some knowledge in preventive maintenance systems.
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance such as electrical, plumbing & carpentry would be ideal but not required.
- Must be able to operate hand tools appropriate to the application.
- Must be able to react quickly and appropriately under pressure in emergency situations with a cool head and professionalism.
- A friendly, polite, customer service-oriented demeanor is required under problematic situations at all times.
- Must demonstrate the ability to follow directions to affect a positive outcome.
- Must be willing to work all hours, including evenings, weekends, and late nights that may include holidays to support facility operations.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, walking about the facility site, and interact with employees and guests.

Health & Safety
- Ensures internal compliance with maintenance, safety, and security procedures by following established ASTM (American Society for Testing & Materials International), NEC (National Electrical Code), NSF (National Science Foundation), OHSA as well as state and local codes.
- Ensure full compliance of policies and procedures set forth within the Health, Safety & Security in the workplace and in line with the Merlin Entertainments Group Policy.
- Understand risk assessments within own workplace and ensure reporting of any new risks to the appropriate manager.
- Compliance of safe working procedures for work activities within one's job role, but cognizant of the effects on others prior to the activity/function.
- In cases of incidents or accidents ensure appropriate reporting is done in a timely manner to the duty manager.
