Location: New Caney, Texas

Overview: Fastorq, a division of Snap-On and a provider of specialized bolting solution products and engineered systems, is seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Engineer to join our team in New Caney, Texas
The Senior Engineer will play a crucial role in designing custom solutions for client applications, along with research, development, and testing of mechanical equipment and systems
This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing projects from initial concept to field commissioning, developing new product lines, and enhancing existing product lines
The ideal candidate will also prioritize keeping projects organized and maintaining thorough documentation throughout all stages of development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Development: Design mechanical systems used across multiple industries, develop new products, processes, and equipment, while prioritizing organization and thorough documentation.
  2. Project Management: Manage projects from initial concept to field commissioning, ensuring timely completion, adherence to specifications, and meticulous documentation of project progress.
  3. Maintenance and Support: Enhance, maintain, and support existing product lines, troubleshooting and resolving production and field problems associated with design, while keeping detailed records of maintenance activities.
  4. Test Environment Development: Design test environments, including test equipment, assembly of test stations and equipment, while maintaining comprehensive documentation of testing procedures and results.
  5. Training and Documentation: Train technicians on proper procedures and processes related to new products, create and present conceptual, preliminary, and final design reports to customers, maintain comprehensive documentation of all training materials and reports, and generate product manuals.
  6. Assist in Shop Activities: Provide assistance in the shop to assemble, test, and troubleshoot issues on products, collaborating with technicians and other team members to ensure product quality and performance.
  7. Customer Interaction: Work directly with customers to detail new project requirements, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with customer expectations, while maintaining clear and effective communication.
  8. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a team of engineers and technicians, communicating effectively with technical and non-technical staff, suppliers, and customers.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree (ABET accredited).
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in mechanical product design and development, with experience designing machined components required.
  • Experience working with hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or bolting tools/solutions is a strong benefit.
  • Experience with machining/fabrication processes is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in all facets of mechanical engineering, including machine design, mechanical engineering failure theory, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, GD&T, and legacy print creation and interpretation.
  • Skilled in 3D CAD software applications, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical customers and team members.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work without sponsorship.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, with the ability to create engineering programs using Excel or other applications.
Other Essential Skills:

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work in the office, field, and shop environments for extended periods.
  • Capable of using hand tools in both field and shop environments.
