POSITION SUMMARY
Provide process development and engineering design expertise for mineral processing projects. Use advance knowledge and specialized training in the performance of thermodynamic, chemical, physical and hydrometallurgical analysis to develop systems and unit operations in accordance with
contractual obligations and relevant codes and standards. Coordination with the Discipline Leads, Principals, Project Manager and Engineering Manager is necessary to achieve these requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develop or cause the following to be designed and developed:

• Metallurgical testwork design and oversight and metallurgical data interpretation.
• Development of process flow diagrams, including mass balances.
• Development of piping and instrumentation diagrams in consultation with piping and
instrumentation engineers and designers.
• Development of process control philosophy in consultation with instrumentation engineers.
• Development of models such as Metsim, Bruno, and JKSimMet.
• Development of process design criteria.
• Development of process equipment specifications and datasheets.
• Development of process operating cost estimates.
• Assistance in preparation of capital cost estimates.
• Development of general arrangement drawings in consultation with plant layout designers and civil engineers and designers.
• Coordination with the Project Engineering Department and other engineering disciplines and departments.

Preparation of studies and reports, including certification as a Qualified Person
(QP). Senior Process Engineers may be assigned to projects as Study Manager, Project Engineer or Project Manager, at the discretion of the Manager of Projects Mining & Metals in consultation with the Manager and Chief Process Engineer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of operating experience in at least two different types of operating plants in the mining industry, e.g. base metals flotation concentrator and precious metals recovery operation or copper solvent extraction/electrowinning hydrometallurgical plant. The experience must include direct experience with the engineers and supervisors responsible for areas of the mine other than processing such as mine planning, mine operations or maintenance.
• A minimum of 5 years experience working for an engineering procurement and construction management (EPCM) company and, therefore, an understanding of engineering best practices such as:

o Engineering procedures.
o Knowledge of the role of process engineers to the overall success of a project including experience directly interfacing with other departments and engineering disciplines.
o The requirements of different types of projects such as metallurgical studies; scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies; basic engineering; detail engineering; plant commissioning; and plant operations and optimization.

• Registration as a professional engineer, designation as a Qualified Professional by the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America (MMSA), or other qualifications needed to act as a Qualified Person (QP) for Canadian National Instrument (NI) 43- 101 technical reports.
• Advanced degrees in a related discipline, e.g. M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering and/or an M.B.A are preferred.
• Ability to interface with clients in a professional, credible fashion.
• Sufficient industry contacts from present and past associations through operations experience to gain knowledge of imminent potential work and to develop relationships required to be seriously considered to perform the work.
• Recognition as an expert in mineral processing or extractive metallurgy as demonstrated by

o Publications.
o Presentations.
o Patents.
o Numerous industry contacts gained by attending industry conventions and other contacts.

• Possible specialization in a field of mineral processing or extractive metallurgy, such as:

o Comminution circuits
o Flotation concentrators
o Precious metals extraction and recovery circuits
o Solvent extraction and electro-winning
o Pressure oxidation circuits
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Domestic and international travel including travel to remote sites with difficult terrain is anticipated. Travel may include extended assignments in remote and difficult locations.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work will mainly be conducted in an in-office environment; however, employee may be assigned to work at client facilities, other green field, construction, operating sites or mines. Overtime and work on off-shifts may be required. Accommodations may include exploration camps, mining camps, and other rustic accommodations in addition to traditional hotels and motels.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT
Frequent and sometimes extended domestic and/or international travel for site visits, plant commissioning or other reasons is anticipated and an expected requirement of the job.

Sr. Engineer IV - Education = Bachelor's/Continuing Education; Experience = 10 years; Licensure = PE

Sr. Engineer III - Education = Bachelor's/Continuing Education; Experience = 12 years; Licensure = PE

Sr. Engineer II - Education = Bachelor's/Continuing Education; Experience = 14 years; Licensure = PE

Sr. Engineer I - Education = Bachelor's/Continuing Education; Experience = 15 years; Licensure = PE
