Job Description:

The Sustainment Electrical Engineer 1 will be involved in the installation coordination for design, modification, maintenance, and repair of aircraft electrical systems, electro-mechanical systems, and mission equipment installations. The engineer applies basic engineering design and/or analytical theory with understanding of structural analysis for solving problems of various types and complexities. The role includes supporting the transition from engineering design to manufacturing, assembly and aircraft installation of designed products. The engineer is expected to be decisive and manage multiple tasks at any time. This position includes application of principles supporting aircraft life cycle maintenance (assessment, repair, rework and designing replacement parts). Liaison/Sustainment engineers have the opportunity to work closely with several functional organizations on a wide variety of tasks and aircraft systems on various aircraft platforms. The engineer understands customer needs and is ready to communicate engineering rationale for decisions. This position requires significant personal interaction with many diverse organizations (aircraft mechanics, manufacturing, program management, customer representatives and other engineering disciplines).

Essential Functions:

  • Overtime and some off-shift support may be required including weekend, nights, and holidays.
  • Must be able to walk to and from the flight line, work in aircraft hangar and manufacturing environments, board/exit aircraft, to include accessing and maneuvering in restricted/limited spaces such as aircraft wing and body fuel tanks, and walking on wings and fuselage (with appropriate safety gear).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field (to include Engineering Technology) with preferred aircraft technical experience in repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, or manufacturing environment.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience with disposition/repair for in-service aircraft discrepancies is desired.
  • Any Previous Material Review Board, Liaison, or Aero Design experience is desired.
  • Familiarity with FAA (Part 23, 25, and 43) and military aircraft airworthiness design approach, certification process, and requirements.
  • CAD skills are desired.
  • Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
