Electrical Engineer - Electronics Design

Driven by our vision of the affordable, reliable, net-zero carbon grid of the future, Mainspring has developed a new category of power generation - the linear generator - that delivers local, scalable, and fuel-flexible power to help accelerate the transition to the net-zero carbon grid.

The unique combination of attributes offered by Mainspring's linear generator enables applications on both the commercial and utility sides of the meter for the $816B global electricity equipment market. We serve a wide range of Fortune 500 customers across markets and industries as well as top-tier utilities and other gridside providers.

Responsibilities

  • Design the low-voltage (
  • Bring-up, validate, and qualify your electrical hardware and PCBA designs.
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware issues that arise in the field, test lab, and production floor.
  • Partner with reliability engineers to further increase electrical hardware reliability.
  • Collaborate with the new product introduction (NPI) team and external suppliers to improve designs for manufacturability and testability.
  • Interface with high voltage systems and teams.
  • Lead technical reviews for design approval from a cross-functional audience.
  • Establish requirements for cable design and embedded/firmware support.
  • Learn complex design concepts and work with a world-class team.

This is a hybrid position (onsite + remote) and will require you to be onsite as required to perform testing, troubleshooting, manufacturing support, etc.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing, troubleshooting, and realizing electrical hardware designs.
  • A "collaborate-first" mindset and have successfully communicated across a range of teams and personalities.
  • Experience with PCBA schematic capture and/or PCB design.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, or a similar engineering field.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in the full hardware development life cycle of PCBA's and electrical assemblies, from requirements development to manufacturing support.
  • Experience working at a startup or rapid development environment.
  • Experience using Altium PCBA Design Tools.
  • Able to demonstrate project management skills and tools (Jira, Smartsheets, Microsoft Project, etc.).
  • Experience with C, C++ and/or Python programming language.

The Bay Area salary for this role is $120k-$130k + pre-IPO stock options + benefits. This position is on-site in Menlo Park, CA. The salary will be adjusted based on the experience of the employee.
