Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Engineer . This position will be located at our Mission Systems Sector in Chantilly, VA.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Signals Intelligence Mission Solutions (SMS) Department.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen and have a Secret clearance at a minimum.

  • Minimum education and experience are 5 years' experience with Bachelors in Science or 3 years' experience with Masters.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with other SMEs.

  • Understands and is very experienced in SolidWorks 3D CAD; 5+ years.

  • Has reverse engineering experience.

  • Additive manufacturing experience: FDM, SLA, SLS.

  • Machine shop experience: Mills, lathes, drill press, sheet metal work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidate with a TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 and other environmental test methods

  • Material science background, knowledge of polymers, thermoplastics, and thermosets.

  • Finite element analysis thermal analysis.

  • Experience using programming languages: C++ and python.

  • Matlab- Simulink for thermal and vibration model simulations.

  • Machine design experience.

Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
