Job Description and Duties Under the general direction and supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the incumbent shall perform a variety of transportation engineering tasks related to the District's pavement and materials engineering program. The incumbent will perform engineering work related to the District Materials Laboratory testing, including field investigations, and preparing final reports in regard to the laboratory test results. Incumbent also performs research on new pavement materials and participates on statewide task groups to improve pavement specifications and testing practices. Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineering Technician exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions Position located in Oakland, Alameda County This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's current telework policy.
