JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a qualified Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to exciting research and development (R&D) projects aimed at the advancement of complex aerospace systems. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in various phases of project development, from conceptualization to implementation and work with our dynamic team developing cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of aerospace engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of space environments and their implications on design considerations and material selection.
  • Proficiency in mechanics of materials, including material stability over temperature (CTE), materials creep, concepts of work hardening, and strain energy.
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging solar cell technology and its practical applications is highly desirable.
  • Practical experience in mechanism design and testing for space applications is required.
  • Familiarity with deployable structures, twist capsules/slip rings is a strong asset.
  • Understanding of fundamentals of thermals and structural analysis as they relate to space systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration within interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient user of SolidWorks CAD package.
  • Familiarity with Matlab and Simulink are assets.
  • Familiarity with the space environment and spacecraft systems.
  • Familiarity with material selection for space applications.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team framework.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education & Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related Engineering/Science field.
  • Advanced degrees such as Master's or Ph.D. are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 to 15 years of experience in aerospace engineering or a related field is preferred.

Compensation:

  • Annual Base Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $190,000.00/per year
  • Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. Your actual base salary will be determined on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

This is a full-time position in San Jose, California. This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) is required.
