The Boston office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team.

Working with us, you will:

  1. Independently provide the full range of electrical engineering services on projects and lead others in accomplishing project objectives given by a supervisor.
  2. Lead and perform analysis, design and documentation of building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting design, and low voltage systems.
  3. Serve as electrical systems specialist, conduct research in problem areas of considerable scope/complexity and devise solutions.
  4. Create and develop planning and design concepts for more complex projects.
  5. Oversee design work of others to ensure an integrated and cohesive design.
  6. Present engineering design solutions to client representatives and/or design review committees.
  7. Meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors and others to address electrical discipline issues and to develop effective working relationships.
  8. Participate in project quality review process.
  9. Mentor junior and mid-level staff and participate in performance coaching.
  10. Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.

An ideal candidate has:

  1. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 10 years of experience working as an electrical engineer in the building design and construction industry, including the design of power distribution, lighting, and lighting controls.
  3. LEED AP preferred, Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
  4. Prior experience leading electrical projects.
  5. Proficiency in current design software (CAD, Revit, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office.
