Senior Process Engineer

Who We Are:

With offices in the U.S. and Germany, MicroVision is a pioneering company in MEMS-based laser beam scanning technology that integrates MEMS, lasers, optics, hardware, algorithms and machine learning software into its proprietary technology to address existing and emerging markets. The Company's integrated approach uses its proprietary technology to provide automotive lidar sensors and solutions for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and for non-automotive applications including industrial, smart infrastructure and robotics. The Company has been leveraging its experience building augmented reality micro-display engines, interactive display modules, and consumer lidar modules.

Pay:

The pay range for this position is $110,000 - $150,000. Exact compensation offers will vary based on skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for a new hire equity grant and/or a performance-based equity incentive plan.

Job Summary:

MicroVision has an immediate opportunity for a Process Engineer. As a key member of MicroVision's growing Process Engineering team, you will collaborate with various technical teams in the company to design and take into production market defining Automotive LiDAR products. The Process Engineering Team is responsible for developing assembly processes for new products including passive optic installation, active optical alignment, and mechanical assembly. The right candidate for this position will be highly motivated with a background in manufacturing opto-mechanical assemblies and/or products. The right candidate will have a strong interest in taking ownership of assembly processes. This includes developing new processes, qualifying processes in pre-production, and improving assembly processes throughout the product life-cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Highly self-motivated to take ownership of complex engineering problems and drive solutions.
  2. Own development of new assembly methods, fixtures, and machines.
  3. Own qualification of assembly methods, fixtures, and machines.
  4. Drive failure analysis and root cause determination of production defects.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Significant manufacturing experience related to opto-mechanical assemblies.
  2. Passive and active optical component alignments.
  3. Adhesive bonding process development and qualification.
  4. Assembly automation.
  5. New Product Introduction.
  6. Significant experience with failure analysis, root cause determination, and process improvement.
  7. Basic statistical data analysis techniques (DOE, SPC, GR&R).
  8. Problem solving methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
  9. Familiarity with 3D CAD for design review, Solidworks preferred.

Required Education and Experience:

Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing engineering role with at least 3 years focused on opto-mechanical assemblies.

Travel:

Frequent onsite support at factory or assembly equipment vendors is required - Europe, Asia, Mexico and Domestic USA are likely (up to 25% travel estimated).

MicroVision offers a flexible work schedule that could include a hybrid schedule of onsite and remote work, subject to team and business needs. Individual work schedules will be at the discretion of management and dependent on role and business needs.
