THE POSITION Mechanical Engineer, ContiTech USA, Inc., Marysville, OH: Perform engineering duties in planning and designing equipment for conveyor belt fabrication, research and development, in order to achieve improvements in equipment safety and efficiency. Develop specifications for conveyor belt equipment and its operating conditions. Develop and manage electronical capital requests, estimating costs, cost savings and payback. Assess need for factory equipment and parts to generate engineering department purchasing requisitions. Assess specifications, operation parameters and fabrication details of newly installed equipment. Improve machines and systems for different parts of the conveyor belt creating and testing process. Solve problems and analyze root causes to develop solutions in response to mechanical and equipment issues. Plan and adjust department activities in response to assistance needed for new projects/requests. Full time employment, Monday Friday, 40 hours per week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field or foreign equivalent, plus 2 years of related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 2 years of experience in each of the following: In either research and development of conveyor belt fabrication OR improving equipment for conveyor belt fabrication; Using Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor in the mechanical design of convey belt equipment; Utilizing Inventor Professional and its application with finite elements in the mechanical design of equipment associated to conveyor belts fabrication, research, and development; and Performing engineering calculations on conveyor belt equipment using Mathcad software. Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following: Collaborating with electrical, automatization, and chemical engineers to use conveyor belt fabrication machines and processes as part of a multidisciplinary team; Identifying problems in new equipment design based on analysis of performance indicators, including lost time, availability, reliability, maintenance maturity, and preventive maintenance compliance; Using automatized systems, including PLCs, HMI screens or frequency variators to control machines used in conveyor belt fabrication; and Utilizing ISO 9001 standards of quality management.
