As an Electrical Engineer at Arete, you are responsible for designing, developing, integrating and testing a variety of electronic equipment including advanced imaging systems, LIDAR equipment, SONAR systems, and motion control/pointing solutions. This position will emphasize FPGA development and includes both electrical design with FPGAs and FPGA code development. You will develop FPGA code for electronic subsystems to support high bandwidth multi-channel electro-optic sensors and then integrate and test the hardware and FPGA code to demonstrate that it meets requirements. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to build and integrate complex electro-optic systems utilizing FPGAs, GPUs, computers, and embedded processors. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with high-speed data paths using FPGAs and SERDES. Experience with high performance memory, storage subsystems, and embedded processors used in conjunction with or integrated into FPGAs is a plus. You will provide hands on testing, troubleshooting, and integration of these systems. Experience with FPGA and microprocessor coding and debugging techniques in a hardware integration environment is very helpful. Other duties include but are not limited to preparing and presenting technical briefings as well as contributing to new and existing technical and cost proposals. This is a exempt, non-supervisory, full-time role based in our Tucson, AZ office.

Experiences and Background We Look For:
  • 2+ years Electrical Engineering experience with BS/BA in Computer/Electronic Engineering
  • Experience with FPGAs and microprocessors
  • Passion to work with high performance electronic and electro-optic systems
  • Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and formal presentation capabilities
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
Nice to Have:
  • 5+ years Electrical Engineering experience with BS/BA in Computer/Electronic Engineering
  • Experience with Xilinx products and tool chain
  • Experience with Altium Designer including schematic design and PCB layout
  • Software programming skills such as C/C++, Python, Matlab
  • Hands on experience designing electronic circuitry and circuit card assemblies. Experience with high speed, impedance controlled, and low noise circuit boards is helpful
  • Current security clearance is highly desired
The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $125,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
