Mechanical Engineer II

Location: Irvine, CA

JOB SUMMARY:

Carries out engineering assignments concerned with the planning and design of mechanically functioning equipment and processes. Performs drawing reviews from Designers. Supports Engineers for medium level complexity projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitors production, installation, operation, maintenance, test and repair of mechanically functioning equipment and processes. Under general supervision and with some latitude for unreviewed action, performs assignments which involve responsibility for a secondary project of a part of a major project. May give directions to junior level Engineers, Designers and Draftspersons.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B.S./BSc) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, and 2 to 5 years of experience with design, analysis, and fabrication of mechanical components/systems.

Defense or aerospace industry experience desired. Experience with electrical circuits and control theory a plus. Hands-on test and hardware experience desired. Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 required. Capable of carrying out assignments concerning mechanical equipment. Works under supervision, performs assignments of medium complexity and may assist other senior engineers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as statistics, frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) with ability to create spreadsheets and word processing documents. CAD proficiency, SolidWorks preferred. Knowledge in analysis software is an advantage.
