Overview:

The Engineer Senior, designs and develops major engineering projects with minimal management guidance or intervention. The Senior Engineer will assume all management duties in the absence of the Engineering manager. The Senior will also provide work direction and guidance to less experienced team members.

Salary: $100,000+

Hourly: Monday - Friday, 7/8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (On-Site)

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering plus 6 to 10 years of related experience.

Experience as an engineer working with capital equipment using electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical engineering practices, PLC experience (if possible).

Proficient using Microsoft Office, Solidworks, and MPI information system "M2M."

Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of assigned project, from conception through production.

Includes: providing estimation of time and materials required for a project, meet estimation if the quote becomes an order.

Leads an engineering project to ensure the team satisfies the customer requirements within budgeted cost and the time allotted.

Global decision making: Takes into consideration the short- and long-term impact of a decision along with the effect the decision has on the entire organization. (Do what's best for the company)

Mechanical Design (3D Cad Design, mechanical detailing, dimensioning, and tolerances, following MPI drawing procedures).

Knowledge of MPI Product (Bill of Materials structure, part numbering system).

Knowledge of Electrical design (electrical enclosure layout and design, understanding of electrical schematics).

Knowledge of PLC programming (create operating sequence for machines).

Hydraulic design (design and troubleshoot hydraulics).

Pneumatic design (design and troubleshoot pneumatics).

Coordinates all documentation including shop manuals, customer manuals, engineering manuals.

Ensure accuracy and entirety of manuals.

Checks all completed work for a given project.

Support and troubleshoot engineering issues with assembly technicians. Develop and maintain a clear and open relationships with assembly technicians. Be available to answer questions and provide support to the foreman and/or assembly technicians. Be open to suggestions offered by the shop staff regarding design or other aspects which can improve the product.

Maintain contact with customer for clarification of order specifics, as required.

Identify and troubleshoot problems which arise during assembly as a result of unclear engineering direction or shop misinterpretation (i.e., unfamiliar/different design).

Interface with Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Service departments.

Attend weekly department meetings. (Is capable to lead the meeting)

Be available to assist other engineers with their projects. Determine when to request assistance from other engineers for your projects.

Works with other Engineers, approves Engineering Change Request forms (ECR's). Understands the importance of ECR's and continuous improvement.

Utilize MPI's inventory software program to access new part numbers, Bill of Materials, component, numbers, etc.

Check other engineer's general project work and maintenance.

Represents the engineering department as necessary at meetings in the absence of the Engineering Manager.

Provide estimates of time and materials (Engineering Quick Quotes) as required for potential new

projects.

Attends (limited) trade shows, conferences, sales calls, and vendor visit meetings, as required or desired.

Follows all OSHA and MPI safety rules and regulations.

Supports MPI lean culture and initiatives.
