Job Description

To maintain a Life of Mine Plan and effectively manage and de-risk the mining operation against adverse mine design and schedule conditions through implementation of best practice mine engineering and a safe mining system. Specifically, plan and manage all design and scheduling for the underground mine to ensure physicals are achieved in line with the budget.

Operational ResponsibilitiesGuide the Deswik Life-of-Mine plan in alignment with budget and corporate guidance.

Review of annual reserve update.

Review and acceptance of annual model updates

Maintain Cut of Grade calculations based on corporate guidance and current site costs

Assist in creation of annual Tech Services budget

Implement and develop the operating mine design processes to ensure alignment between the underground mining operations and project strategic objectives.

Approve all mining instructions (RFA, AFM, Level Notes, Stope Notes)

Review the end of month reconciliation process.

Review Rolling 12-month schedules to ensure inline with budget

Review engineering systems for all activities required to effectively execute the Underground Business plan.

Actively manages works under area of control to ensure no impact on the critical path of the schedule.

Identifies possible upcoming schedule risks within area of control and initiates control measures to mitigate effects on overall project schedule.

Actively looks for opportunities to accelerate works/ implement cost savings to provide schedule opportunities in area of control.

Design and implement value adding reporting systems.

Deliver project estimates and budgets to the required degree of accuracy within scope of control when required

People and performance managementMentoring and coaching engineers how to design and plan an underground open stoping mine.

Establish and maintain a productive work relationship through effective people management and team building.

Monitor subordinates in their performance and direct their activities as necessary to ensure engineering requirements are achieved.

Communicate regularly with key stakeholders to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood and to promote a harmonious working environment.

Mentor and coach engineers to establish future progression, utilizing development plans

Health, Safety, and EnvironmentComply with OceanaGold Health and Safety Policy and Environment Policy.

Promoting safety awareness and environmental responsibility amongst company and contract personnel.

Report all personal injuries and incidents and assisting with investigations.

Actively supporting and participate in safety and environmental initiatives.

Accepting accountability to ensure personal safety and the safety of others whilst protecting the environment.

Monitor the reporting of workplace incidents and hazards to ensure effective risk mitigation is maintained.

Undertake workplace inspections and audits to ensure site standards are being adhered to.

Support incident investigations that occur within area of control

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.

Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.

Must be able to climb 25' vertical ladder sections unaided.

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.

Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
