This position is for a mechanical engineer who will develop system design packages for gas turbine auxiliary mechanical equipment, primarily intake and exhaust systems, and work with outside vendors to fabricate the specified equipment and ensure that the supplied equipment package will meet code, contract and schedule requirements for power projects in the Americas. Experience with specification of GT intake and exhaust systems is preferred.
This position is primarily responsible for the following major systems:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare equipment purchase specifications that meet contract, internal requirements, and applicable codes
Prepare and review equipment arrangement and foundation drawings, specific for each project
Prepare inquiry and purchase specifications for equipment
Review technical proposals and provide technical recommendation of vendor
Prepare supporting calculations needed to ensure proper sizing of equipment
Review of vendor designs to ensure compliance with code, contract and internal requirements
Propose cost reductions and design improvements to support the overall business
Provide coordination of design between parent company, customer, and supplier
Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality
Preparation of correspondence to vendors and other engineering groups
Interpret P&IDs and other technical material to develop system interface requirements
Ensure arrangement and foundation interface information meets requirements
Specification and analysis of test results.
Development of standard drawings and specifications
Development of design improvements and concepts to reduce system costs.
Develop and Adhere to schedule for engineering deliverables
Meet regularly with vendors to ensure all technical and schedule requirements are being met.
Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customer, vendors and field personnel.
Interpret and integrate design requirements from parent company.
Establish processes and procedures that will ensure an effective and optimized use of resources while providing high quality design packages.
Provide regular status updates to management
Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality
Demonstrate leadership ability and provide direction to peers and lower level engineers.
Mentor lower level engineers and be willing to transfer knowhow
Generate ideas for product development.
Proactively improve tools, processes and procedures of the Engineering team.
Willing and able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
Travel 5% - 20%.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor Degree in Engineering required. Masters is desirable. Experience with Gas Turbine Inlet and Exhaust Systems is preferred. Japan-related or other International business experience is a plus but not required.
Background Preference: The preferred type of engineer for this position will come from an Air Inlet Filter House Supplier or fabrication shop for such equipment. Outside of having manufacturing experience, experience with air filtration equipment is beneficial.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English language. Ability to write, in English language, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese language skills are not mandatory, but beneficial.
Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of database, project management, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
