The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. This program is open to all ranks and experience levels and offers transitioning service members valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service.

Responsibilities for this internship position include:

The service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. Responsibilities include:

  1. Panel & cable design, electrical interconnects & schematics.
  2. Developing acceptance criteria & certification procedures.
  3. Hardware checkout/troubleshooting.
  4. Root cause determination, problem resolution, and documentation.
  5. Interface with subsystem test engineers, test operators, technicians, systems administrators, security team, and vendors.
  6. Full design cycle of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) from conception through design to fabrication and integration/test.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer (level 3):

  1. Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience, or a master's degree in STEM discipline with 3 years of related experience.
  2. Proficient in hardware design including panel and/or cable design, schematic layouts.
  3. Minimum of 1 year experience in hardware design.
  4. Must be retiring or separating from the military within 1 year to be eligible.
  5. Must have an Active Secret security clearance at time of application.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer (level 4):

  1. Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience, or a master's degree in STEM discipline with 6 years of related experience, or Ph.D. with 3 years of experience.
  2. Proficient in hardware design including panel and/or cable design, schematic layouts.
  3. Minimum of 2 years experience in hardware design.
  4. Must be retiring or separating from the military within 1 year to be eligible.
  5. Must have an Active Secret security clearance at time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Active TS clearance.
  2. Minimum of 3 years experience in hardware design.
  3. Proficient with integrated (analog, power, digital) hardware design.
  4. Proficient with lab test equipment, such as DMMs, O-Scopes, or related.
  5. Proficient with electrical design tools (e.g., Zuken, AutoCAD, PSpice).
  6. Proficient with hands-on troubleshooting with electrical hardware.
  7. Proficient in Test Automation Software (LabView, TCL, MATLAB).

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600

Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600
