Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in fracture mechanics to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, predicting, and preventing the failure of materials and components due to cracks and fractures. This role requires a deep understanding of material behavior and advanced analytical techniques.
This position will report to a Principal or designee level staff member within our Engineering division. The position will involve a variety of general functions, including but not limited to:
Conduct fracture mechanics analyses to evaluate the integrity and durability of materials and components.
Develop and assess models for prevention of crack initiation and growth under various loading conditions.
Perform failure analysis to determine the root cause of fractures and material failures.
Provide recommendations for material selection and design modifications to enhance fracture resistance.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and other service divisions to develop innovative engineering solutions and prevent material failures.
Assist with the preparation of claims or resolution of disputes involving technical/material failures.
Write/Prepare technical reports and documentation for project findings and deliverables.
Analyze results, providing recommendations for design improvements.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory codes related to fracture mechanics.
