Job Description:

Position: RF Electrical Engineer IV

Reports To: Engineering Leader

Department: Electrical Engineering

General Purpose of Job:

Tests and repairs RF medical devices that use dielectric heating/microwave technology at the 6.7 MHz range. Also works with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components.

In this role you will have a broad scope of responsibility from creating electrical test fixtures, to developing and executing test plans, writing test reports and component level troubleshooting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets all the requirements of an Electrical Engineer III
  • Has 8+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on RF-enabled devices and control system software.
  • Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems.
  • Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.
  • Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support product development.
  • Serves as a recognized expert in the field of electrical engineering, with a deep understanding of industry trends and best practices.
  • Leads the strategic direction and vision for the electrical engineering function, aligning it with the overall business objectives.
  • Provides technical oversight and guidance on the most complex and high-impact electrical engineering projects.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional leadership to identify and address organizational challenges and opportunities.
  • Mentors and develops the electrical engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Represents the company as a technical authority, interfacing with customers, partners, and industry influencers.
  • Demonstrates exceptional strategic thinking, decision-making, and change management skills.
  • Ensures GMPs are followed in the product development cycle and mentors junior engineers in the proper usage of GMPs and quality procedures.
  • Reviews performance specifications, engineering concepts and makes recommendations about feasibility and production cost.
  • Must be able to travel if there is a need but no more than 10%.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers.
  • May be responsible for leading small-to-large-sized projects or initiatives.
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (BS) in electrical engineering or equivalent; or eight+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, schematics, interconnects assembly and part drawings or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Physical Demands:

With or without reasonable accommodation, minimal time will be spent walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching. Some time will be spent standing, sitting, talking, and hearing, and using hands to handle, feel and reach. At times up to 50 pounds will need to be lifted.

Work Environment:

Minimal time will be spent in wet or humid conditions, and near caustic or toxic chemicals. Some time will be spent working near moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate (examples: business offices with computers and printers).
