Position Description:

Ecompex is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to provide professional support services to the United States Coast Guard to include electrical engineering design, shore infrastructure maintenance, construction, improvement, and alteration projects. Some responsibilities of this position can include project management, design support services, preparing and reviewing scopes of work or procurement packages for various projects amongst other administrative and technical engineering tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or registration as a professional electrical engineer in a state, District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
  • Must possess a minimum of five years' experience working in the electrical engineering field.
  • Extensive experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, computer-aided design (CAD).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Licensed Electrical Engineer or other industry-standard professional licensure related.

Required Skills:

  • Experience preparing engineering drawings/designs and load calculations in compliance with nationally accepted building and seismic codes.
  • Experience evaluating and managing the work of other designers/engineers to achieve design objectives.
  • Experience with technical specification writing.
  • Experience performing construction cost estimations.
  • Experience conducting National Electrical Code Analysis.
  • Experience performing short circuit Calculation and Arc Flash Analysis.
  • Extensive experience managing multi-discipline, multi-faceted projects related to real property facilities.
  • Experience designing fire and intrusion Alarm Systems.
  • Experience conducting Photometric Analysis for both indoor and outdoor lighting design.
  • Experience implementing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) principles into technical design plans.
  • Experience implementing Lightning Protection systems.
  • Experience conducting Life Cycle Cost Analysis for electrical installations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare design documents and/or scopes of work for Architectural and Engineering services, Design/Build services and construction work.
  • Preparing drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and other documents, as required, for complex construction projects.
  • Provide technical advice to contracting officers during negotiations.
  • Perform site inspections to gather data for new or renovation work.
  • Provide in-house electrical engineering advice and reviews.
  • Update enterprise database system for budgeting, project execution and construction submittal reviews.
  • Coordinate with site contacts and multi-discipline design team members.
  • Conduct conceptual design meetings with in-house and site personnel.
  • Provide support services to architectural and engineering designers in Coast Guard specific project documentation functions.
  • Review and comment on submittals, requests for information and work schedules as submitted by construction contractors.
  • Prepare procurement packages associated with design and award packages.
