The Electrical Engineer provides technical engineering support for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Municipal Light Plant's ("MLP") and Devens Regional Enterprise Zone's ("Devens") electrical distribution systems. This position is responsible for providing engineering and technical support related to the operation and maintenance, planning, design, and construction or expansion of the systems. The incumbent reports to the Supervisory Electrical Engineer and works closely with the MLP Assistant Superintendent, Line Supervisor, Infrastructure Engineer, and Electrician. This position is required to work independently and to maintain proficiency in electrical engineering computer applications, safety manuals, and the National Electrical Safety Code ("NESC").

The Electrical Engineer helps plan and design the construction and upgrading of underground and overhead electrical facilities, control systems, and substations; and develops and prepares specifications and operating procedures for the construction and maintenance of system facilities and substations. This position directly supports line operations and construction through a variety of deliverables, roles, and responsibilities, including outage and voltage complaint response; field inspection, troubleshooting, and engineering; and developing and designing recommendations and capital projects to improve system efficiency and operating conditions over the longer term. This position provides technical and operational and maintenance support of the MLP's Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition ("SCADA"), outage management, and Geographic Information systems ("OMS" and "GIS").

Qualified applicants will have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and at least two years' experience with the design, operation, maintenance, repair, and construction on an electric distribution system.
