Job Description:

Overview:
The Environmental Technician I assists with the implementation of Tribal Environmental Programs in the areas of native plant surveys and assessments, tribal nursery operations, wildlife and habitat restoration, wetland assessments, water quality monitoring, air quality monitoring, solid waste management, and community education and outreach.

Responsibilities:
Assists in conducting field work including water resource sampling and monitoring, air quality monitoring, wetland assessments, habitat restoration, and solid waste management in accordance with grant and tribally funded programs.

Assists in sampling collection, including documenting data from activities performed during field surveys/assessments.

Assists with education and outreach on environmental programs to community and public.

Assists with solid waste management activities such as reservation and creek clean ups, e-waste and hazardous waste collection, and zero waste.

Assists with seed collection and propagation at Tribal plant nursery.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management is highly desired, or related field or equivalent work experience.

One year of experience in environmental field work and surveys is required.

One year of experience in nursery and plant management and propagation is highly desired.

Intermediate computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft applications, email, and internet.

Willingness to occasionally work outside of normal office hours for events, as needed.

Native American hiring preference applies.

Minimum Pay Rate:
$20.08 per hour

Maximum Pay Rate:
$23.62 per hour
