Responsibilities
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Project Electrical Engineer responsible for Electrical systems design (power distribution, power generation, energy storage, lighting, fire alarm) for a wide variety of multi-disciplinary (A&E) project types, including but not limited to:
- Mission Critical
- Laboratories
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Utility Plant and campus distribution
- Healthcare
- Corporate Commercial
The ideal candidate will:
- Provide technical leadership and design management on multiple simultaneous design projects;
- Produce designs that meet engineering requirements;
- Assure complete documentation of engineering requirements;
- Prepare and adhere to budgeted hours for project;
- Perform or oversee load calculations;
- Develop system applications;
- Equipment sizing and calculations;
- Coordinate designs with architecture and other engineering disciplines;
- Signing and sealing contract documents;
- Overseeing construction administration;
- Supporting recruitment and hiring efforts;
- Assure quality and completeness of the engineering design;
- Assess project staffing needs;
- Monitor conformance to project scope and document deviations at the time of discovery;
- Prepare technical reports;
- Lead client meetings regarding engineering systems;
- Mentorship, both continual as well as presentations for in-house continuing education program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university;
- 15+ years of engineering experience in the commercial building design and construction industry with a current Professional Engineers license in the US;
- 5+ years of experience as the primary engineering interface with multiple clients either as a project manager or as the engineering lead;
- Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies;
- Demonstrated experience designing to California building standards (e.g. Title 24, OSHPD), as well as national Codes and Standards;
- Experience with design and construction of commercial, industrial, and utility scale power distribution systems including selecting and specifying conductors, raceway, switch gear, motor control centers, panelboards, circuit breakers, and other common power distribution components;
- Experience in data centers, mission critical facilities, laboratories, "high tech" manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, chemical processing, utility power distribution, material handling, water distribution, wastewater, and/or industrial processes;
- Experience with designing electrical and life safety systems based on NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, and ANSI/EIA/TIA compliant;
- Technical writing experience and proficiency;
- Proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project;
- Familiarity with REVIT and knowledge of BIM;
- Modeling electrical systems with SKM, ETAP, EZ-Power or other IEEE compliant modeling tools;
- Specifying electrical equipment including transformers, switchboards, panelboards, overcurrent protective devices, conductors, raceway, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, motors, and variable frequency drives;
- Willingness to travel overnight for projects up to 10% of the time.
Base Compensation: $185,000 - $230,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
