Overview

Blooming Glen Contractors Water & Wastewater Services is looking for motivated and skilled Mechanical Engineers to join our growing Engineering team! This role offers a unique opportunity to work on dynamic water and wastewater infrastructure projects while building a solid foundation in engineering design and project execution.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Modeling and designing various water and wastewater projects using SolidWorks as your main tool.
  • Producing detailed 2D drawings for use by our field crew during installation.
  • Developing 2D fabrication drawing packages for our weld shop, focusing on steel piping, structural components, and miscellaneous metals.
  • Performing take-offs for estimating and material ordering to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.
  • Compiling comprehensive bills of materials for each project, streamlining project execution.
  • Collaborating with Professional Engineers to obtain PE stamps on designs.
  • Utilizing laser scanning technology to gather as-built dimensions, with experience in cloud point data being a plus.
  • Working closely with our weld shop, project managers, and field crew to ensure successful project delivery from start to finish.
  • Reviewing and verifying designs to ensure they meet applicable codes and standards before final approval.
  • Ability to write comprehensive and detailed narratives and various forms of correspondence.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and a passion for CAD modeling and design.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or design.
  • Familiarity with cloud point data and 3D scanning technologies.
  • Knowledge of fabrication processes and the ability to create precise drawing packages.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure precise and accurate engineering designs.
  • Possession of an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification or actively working towards obtaining it
  • A desire to grow professionally, with opportunities to take on increasing responsibilities as you develop your skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit as required for project needs.
  • Must be able to lift and move items relevant to job responsibilities.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions on occasion.
  • Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
  • Flexibility to work more than 40 hours per week when project demands require it.
