What We Are Looking For:

Power System Engineering, Inc. (PSE) is looking for a well-rounded individual to assist in delivering multidisciplinary Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects through their feasibility, pre-construction, and construction phases with a specific focus on the electrical design aspects of projects in our Madison, WI or Blaine, MN offices. PSE Renewable Energy Resources group specializes in designing fun, challenging, rewarding, and high-profile renewable energy projects and seeks a creative, intelligent, entrepreneurial, and driven individual who enjoys a fast-paced and challenging environment. What You Will Be Doing:

  • Design and engineer commercial and utility-scale PV solar systems, energy storage projects, and microgrid projects between 100kW and 100MW+ in size - Projects include both standalone storage and storage plus solar.
  • Perform electrical calculations to size equipment, cables, and conduit. etc.
  • Develop construction documents using AutoCAD.
  • Assist in the development of detailed equipment specifications.
  • Use commercial (ex., MS Excel) and engineering software to design Solar PV and BESS systems.
  • Travel to project sites from time to time to gather site-specific data, as required.
  • Contributing to or writing technical papers and reports.
  • Produce site-specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as Pvsyst and Helioscope.
  • Conduct system studies such as arc flash, load flow, short circuit, overcurrent coordination, and grounding studies.
  • Communicate with local utilities and AHJs to ensure designs meet all requirements for interconnection and operation.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other related disciplines.
  • 0-4 years experience designing commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems and/or energy storage systems.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) Licensure or the ability to get one within a reasonable time.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • NABCEP certification or willingness to get one.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to become familiar with AutoCAD, PVsyst, SKM, ETAP, and SEL Relays.
  • Ability to become familiar with industry-standard design codes such as NEC, International Building Codes, International Fire Codes, and other standards relevant to the industry a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
  • Extremely organized and meticulous with details.
  • Ability to work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
