Leidos Gibbs and Cox is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support various programs. We are seeking a candidate to work with our engineering and production teams as we develop and produce cutting-edge solutions to challenging defense-related problems. This position reports to the Gibbs & Cox Electrical Engineering Department Manager and interfaces with Program Managers for various contracts.

Prefer candidates to be local to Washington, DC to enable onsite work at USCG Headquarters, 2 to 3 days per week. However, fully remote candidates will be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

Essential responsibilities include: Performing calculations, applying electrical engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and criteria to address technical issues identified during the design and engineering of United States Coast Guard (USCG) ships, and other marine vessels

Communicating technical principles directly to client

Performing quality assurance reviews of simple analyses, calculations, and drawings

Conduct design of electric and electronic systems, study power generation and distribution, centralized machinery monitoring and control.

Applying knowledge of and experience with engineering principles and techniques to develop and evaluate moderately complex technical reports related to application of C5I systems onboard USCG (United States Coast Guard) ships

Reviewing and evaluating the effect of new and/or modified electronics on overall system performance

Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFSs), Request for Waiver (RFW), and Engineering Changes (ECs)

Familiarity with US Navy, USCG, ABS and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship is required

Must be able to obtain a security clearance

Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government.

B.S. Degree or higher in Technical, Engineering, or Marine Degree from ABET accredited institution, or related field of work

Minimum of 2 years of documented experience integrating C5I systems in one of the (three preferred) following categories:

Cybersecurity, Command and Control, Navigation, Networking, Internal Communications, External Communications, Sensors, Combat Systems, or Intelligence Systems

Minimum of 2 years' documented experience developing and integrating shipboard C5I (including Command-and-Control Systems, Navigation Systems, Internal Communications and External Communication Systems, Sensors and Radars, Combat Systems, and Intelligence Systems) with emphasis on design and implementation of a balanced affordable and maintainable systems.

Meets required Department of Defense IAT Level II Baseline Certification Requirements

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Technical proficiency in electrical engineering disciplines to provide guidance and review of products

Solid organizational and time management abilities

Proven collaborator with management, peers, and other staff members

Proven track record interacting with customers regarding both technical and programmatic issues

Flexible, resourceful, with a "figure-it-out-and-get-it-done" approach

Proficiency in standard electrical system design and analysis

Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PowerPoint

Outstanding Oral, Written and Presentation Skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Shipyard Production Systems, shipboard medium and low voltage power systems, 60 Hz and 400Hz electrical plant, and Power Conversion is a plus

Proficiency in standard software e.g.: CAD, AutoCAD, and Rhino.

Knowledge of MIL Standards and Specifications is a plus

USCG experience is a plus

2 years' experience, to include any specialized field experience under Unique Labor Category experience related to federal ship or boat building acquisition programs preferred.

Experience with Department of Defense ACAT I or Department of Homeland Security Level I shipbuilding programs preferred.

Previous experience with shipboard and defense C5I systems preferred
