JOB POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Design Engineer

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering

JOB POSITION SUMMARY

This position is ideal for a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in SolidWorks, CAD, and FEM tools, focused on developing detailed mechanical designs for power RF amplifiers and their components. This role involves creating and optimizing models for fully assembled products, including thermal management. ensuring designs meet functional, manufacturability, and performance requirements. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready designs.

Work involves a wide range of technical skills and expertise to ensure the functionality and reliability of RF amplifier products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop mechanical components, libraries and full assemble solutions for power RF amplifiers with an emphasis on thermal management and dissipation strategies.
  • Create detailed CAD and SolidWorks models, including 3D assemblies and 2D drawings, for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Incorporate thermal management considerations into designs to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with RF leads and Design team to ensure compatibility and integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including bill of materials (BOMs) , engineering changes (ECN), Mechanical Design Guidelines.
  • Support manufacturing processes by ensuring designs are optimized for fabrication and assembly.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during prototyping and production.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance product performance and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD including experience creating complex assemblies and detailed drawings.

Advanced CAD modeling and drafting skills with a focus on precision and manufacturability.

Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and thermal management strategies.

Strong understanding of machining/ CNC capabilities

Familiarity with materials, fabrication techniques, and thermal dissipation methods in electronic systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.

Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or related field. Associate's degree in mechanical engineering, 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, particularly for electronic products.
