Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Knowledge of mechanical design, drawing and drafting standards, ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100.
2+ years experience in the design, analysis and fabrication of mechanical components/systems. Defense or aerospace industry experience desired. Experience with electrical circuits and control theory a plus. Hands-on test and hardware experience desired.

Must be a US citizen.

JOB SUMMARY
Carries out engineering assignments concerned with the planning and design of mechanically functioning equipment and processes. Performs drawing reviews from Designers. Supports Engineers for medium level complexity projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors production, installation, operation, maintenance, test and repair of mechanically functioning equipment and processes. Under general supervision and with some latitude for unreviewed action, performs assignments which involve responsibility for a secondary project of a part of a major project. May give directions to junior level Engineers, Designers and Draftspersons.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
LEVEL 6:
Bachelor's degree (B.S./BSc) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, and 2+ years of experience with design, analysis, and fabrication of mechanical components/systems. Defense or aerospace industry experience desired. Experience with electrical circuits and control theory a plus. Hands-on test and hardware experience desired. Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 required. Capable of carrying out assignments concerned with mechanical equipment. Works under supervision, performs assignments of medium complexity and may assist other senior engineers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
LEVEL 4:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to communicate in English. Very good oral and written communication skills. Should be capable of making presentations to customers. Written reports and technical documents are required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
LEVEL 5:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as statistics, frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY
LEVEL 5:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Develops and adapts to new research and development principles for application to product development. Determines nature/scope of testing necessary to meet project goals and requirements.

Work may be independent, but will have interactions with fellow engineers and members from other departments, customers, vendors and corporate management. Should be capable to work individually and independently and under time pressure and lack of resources. Provides technical guidance and assistance to lower level engineers.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) with ability to create spreadsheets and word processing documents. CAD proficiency, SolidWorks preferred. Knowledge in analysis software is an advantage.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Light Work: Position involves sitting, standing and/or walking. Position requires ability to frequently exert up to 10 pounds of force to move/lift objects and occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move/lift objects.

May involve some lifting. Involves sitting at desk and reading computer screen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee
is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, reach or walk. This position requires that the employee be able to hear and speak clearly.
Must keep current with engineering field. Should be able to perform field support if required.
Travel is occasionally required. Relatively long travel trips may be required from time to time.
Extended hours and overtime are occasionally required to meet job requirements.
Accountability to established schedules and/or time pressures required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
LEVEL 2:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work usually performed in air-conditioned office environment. Some work will occasionally be performed in the shop. Shop environment contains hazardous materials, dust, moving equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and metal chips from cutting, milling, drilling and turning operations. Employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Must have the ability to be flexible and deal with changing conditions as required.
