Job Summary The Mechanical Engineer Sr. is responsible for managing and optimizing energy usage on campus. The main goal is to reduce energy consumption, increase energy efficiency, and lower energy costs. The energy manager can conduct energy audits, identify areas of inefficiency, develop and implement energy-saving initiatives, monitor energy usage and costs, assist with negotiating energy contracts, and educate staff on energy conservation and efficiency practices. Required Qualifications Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of mechanical engineering. Considerable skills in developing and preparing contract documents. Thorough knowledge of communication protocols. Knowledge of windows operating systems. Ability to test, evaluate, implement, and troubleshoot networking hardware and software malfunctions in a complex, campus-wide telecommunications network. Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical, pneumatic, and digital controls. Additional Considerations Ability to use diagnostic tools to analyze, identify, and resolve telecommunications and control problems. Extensive knowledge of Johnson Controls ADX (extended application and data server), Lutron Lighting Control System and Automated Logic Corporation (WebCtrl software) for energy saving strategies.
