Job Description: As an Electrical Engineer specializing in arc flash calculations, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of electrical systems for our clients. This position is primarily office-based, with some field walkdowns required for data collection and verification.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform arc flash hazard analysis and calculations in accordance with NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584 standards.
- Develop and maintain electrical system models using industry-standard software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, EasyPower).
- Analyze and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications to assess arc flash risks.
- Prepare detailed arc flash reports, including recommendations for personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety measures.
- Conduct field walkdowns to gather data, verify system configurations, and ensure accurate input for arc flash studies.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to ensure project requirements are met.
- Assist in the development and implementation of electrical safety programs and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, codes, and best practices related to arc flash and electrical safety.

Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 0-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems and arc flash studies.
- Proficiency in using electrical engineering software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, etc.) for arc flash analysis.
- Strong understanding of NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Experience with electrical system design, analysis, and safety assessments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to conduct occasional field walkdowns as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:- Progress toward obtaining Professional Engineering license.
- Experience in additional areas such as short-circuit analysis, coordination studies, or load flow analysis.
- OSHA 30-hour certification and equivalent safety training will be provided.
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
Hyrbid Positions. Onsite location would include: ORNL, Y-12, UCOR offices
