The Electrical Engineer will primarily provide on-site support to Smart Wires' contract manufacturer in St. Petersburg, Florida. This support will span cut-in of new products at the factory and on-going production. Applicants with keen problem-solving skills will have an outsized opportunity to positively impact customer satisfaction and Smart Wires financials. While manufacturing support will be the top priority, as time permits this role will have the opportunity to support the design and sustainment of Smart Wires products. Primary responsibilities Participate in and support production of the first manufactured unit (FMU) for new platforms, products and releases. Support includes troubleshooting (of PCBAs, power-electronic converters, sensors, actuators, fans, passive components and test equipment), proposal of design/supplier changes and review of design/supplier changes. Participate in and support production of released products. Support includes troubleshooting (of the same components listed above), proposal of design/supplier changes and review of design/supplier changes. Additional /responsibilities if time permits Participate in the design and testing of electronic subsystems, including vendor qualification Support the development of test plans and perform testing of devices and components. Required skills and experience. Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Power Electronics Engineering Minimum 2 years of engineering experience Minimum 1 year of experience with factory support Innovative problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail Ability to adapt to change as directed, understand change is a constant and necessary path for improvement and growth Desired skills and experience Experience in Design for Excellence (DfX), with a focus on Design for Manufacturing (DfM). Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with excellent work planning skills Experience in medium-voltage (1000 V or more) converter systems Experience in working with off-shore teams, especially in India and Pakistan Location This position is based out of our manufacturing facility in St. Petersburg, FL. Remote work will be permitted by exception only. Travel requirements This role may require up to 10% travel, with occasional trips to our headquarters in Durham, North Carolina and suppliers.
