Job Title: Engineering Manager Job Code: 19845 Job Location: Rochester, NY Job Schedule: 5/8 Job Description: The successful candidate for this Engineering Manager position will lead a team of dedicated professionals who are responsible for supporting the hardware on military communication products throughout their lifecycle (from pre-release to obsolescence).
Typical tasks include:
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Prioritizing work and balancing workload.
- Cross-collaboration with managers of varying disciplines to ensure on-time product deliverables.
- Provide project status and reporting to stakeholders that align with key project milestones and strategy.
- Functional management of a team of hardware engineers with a focus on career development.
- Support recruiting efforts at both the team and group level.
- Guide the team in determining design, process, and test improvements to increase test yields and product quality.
- Work in a cross-functional team environment to meet manufacturability, testability and other DFx requirements for volume production.
- Track and mitigate component obsolescence throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work with vendors, Quality, and Supply Chain to address material issues.
Essential Functions: - Highly motivated & team-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Experienced in managing a technical design or troubleshoot team, providing direction and prioritizing tasks to meet yield and shipment target.
- Ability to generate and deliver presentations for various levels of management regarding issues, investigations, improvements or cost savings in a concise manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment interfacing with multiple teams across the organization.
- Able to analyze data and communicate technical information to staff.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience developing and/or managing software engineering solutions. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience managing software engineering solutions. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience managing software engineering solutions.
Preferred Additional Skills: - Experience with tactical radios.
- Working knowledge of LabVIEW and Jira a plus.
- Hardware design/troubleshooting ability of digital, analog or RF circuits.
- Experience with MS Office including advanced spreadsheet manipulation and presentation creation.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $108,500 - $201,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
