Job Description:

Brainhunter is currently seeking " Mechanical/ Electrical Engineer" to work for our valued Client in Cambridge, Ontario. It's a one - year contract located in Cambridge, Ontario involving occasional travel to Whiteshell, Manitoba.


The Mechanical Engineer is the first level of engineering of two or more related fields consulting in a particular field of engineering. The role of the Engineer is to work in a multi-disciplinary environment providing engineering expertise to a project team(s) responsible for planning and executing of Standpipe and Bunker Waste retrieval System (SBWRS) at Whiteshell Laboratories. The incumbent must have an engineering degree (e.g., mechanical, electrical etc.) and will be working within the Client's , SBWRS PMO team. The position is based at Whiteshell (Pinawa, MB), however 80 percent of the time will be at Vendor facility in Cambridge (ON). Engineer will be responsible to complete the testing and development of the required documents like operating procedure, maintenance documents etc. of the systems before it is shipped to WL site.

Position is a one-year contract to start with a possibility of extension. Shift is 4 days (Monday - Thursday) with 10 hrs per day.


Experience:

  • A minimum of five years engineering experience which demonstrates an ability to execute complex projects with a high level of competence.
  • Previous supervisory experience an asset.
  • Eligible for membership in a provincial engineering association (e.g., APEGM)


Abilities and Skills:

  • Knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in design, construction and commissioning processes.
  • Ability to work to tight timelines and support the SBWRS plan and schedule.
  • Excellent computer skills, including document preparation and an understanding of CADD, is required.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills: able to build consensus.
  • Excellent integrity, respect of confidences, open, credible and sincere.
  • Effective at building relationships. Strong interpersonal skills such as ability to get along well with peers and management. A very good team player.
  • A questioning attitude and aptitude to learn about nuclear decommissioning strategies and techniques.
  • Positive attitude with respect to nuclear regulatory environment and required work planning and execution practices.
  • Demonstrated efficient organization, planning, time management, detail orientation and prioritization.
  • Able to seek common goals, partner and collaborate with project teams and operational teams.
  • Confidence to interact with managers and directors to solicit advice and to promote implementation strategies.
  • Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs.
