Job Description:

The Ranger Group, a leading US Engineering Solutions provider to companies across the Aerospace & Defense, Medical Device, Electronics and Industrial Manufacturing industries, is currently seeking a Electrical Engineer (Power Systems) for a Direct-Hire role with an oil & gasclient of ours in Houston, TX. The work will be completed 100% onsite.

- Electrical Design & Engineering: Develop electrical power conversion systems, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and Fuel Cells.

- Component Selection: Identify, size and specify key electrical components to ensure optimal performance, eficiency, and reliability.

- Technical Drawings & Drafting: Create one-line diagrams, general arrangement, interface drawing and detailed electrical schematics; perform drafting for distribution and lighting panels.

- Power Distribution & Integration: Design and implement power distribution systems and associated controls, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and standards. Including load study, short circuit study, thermal heat dissipation, arc flash, factory acceptance test documents, cable schedule.

- Manage Electrical Equipment and Installation BOMs : Cable schedule, Panel Bill of Material (BOM), spare parts list, tooling.

- Manufacturing support: Provide technical know-how and guidance to manufacturing during construction, through various means: classroom, shadowing, one on one clarifications, installation procedures, standard work instructions.

- System Optimization & Troubleshooting: Analyze and refine system designs to improve manufacturability, reliability, and cost-e ectiveness.

- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC) and best practices.

- Travel: Intermittent visit to customer site may be required for survey and final commissioning acceptance.

Qualifications & Experience:

- 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on power conversion and distribution.

- Proficiency in designing, packaging and implementing power conversion systems (VFDs, ESS, UPS, Fuel Cells).

- Knowledge of electrical drafting, including one-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.

- Experience with electrical drafting software (AutoCAD, Solidworks Electrical, EPlan, See Electrical, Capital Electra X) and general arrangement drafting (AutoCAD, Draftsight).

- Complete understanding of component sizing, voltage drop, short circuit current and thermal heat dissipation.? Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with generator power systems and alternative energy sources.

- Knowledge of power electronics and control systems.

- Familiarity with embedded power control systems and PLCs.
