Job Description:

Job Title: Production Process Engineer Job Description: Monitor, inspect, and propose measures to improve product development and product/process improvement to meet established quality standards; Assist and provide support in running engineering upscale batches for new proprietary nutritional products for animals. Perform research to improve existing products; Finalize quality parameters and product specification per the quality agreements with prospective customer companies with relation to the products developed specially for them from research and development stage to commercialization stage; Perform in process quality tests for the release of products; Help and support during regulatory audits and keep abreast with the animal health/nutraceutical product regulation. Support continuous improvement of products/processes to comply with regulatory/quality guidelines and customer requirements. Achieve production goals, on-time shipments, product quality, nonconformance investigations, support during audits; Organize/maintain production process flow, liaise with production planner/scheduler to schedule daily production of products to ensure availability of personnel, raw materials, and packaging components; Plan/coordinate day-to-day production activity to meet sales demands, manufacturing targets, standards, quality, and safety in cost-effective manner; Ensure equipment is efficient in maximizing equipment uptime/reliability through planning and organizing; monitor machine setups and run speeds; Ensure manufacturing procedures are followed effectively and under properly controlled conditions by maintaining regular floor presence in production; Support new product start-ups and progress from conceptualization through commercialization; Implement process and quality control systems to ensure product quality/safety; Monitor production/quality of animal products at all stages of production (batch record issuance, weighing, mixing, extrusion, storage on tray/totes, and packaging); Identify training needs, provide trainings on manufacturing and quality processes; Coordinate activities to modify equipment and tools, schedule repairs, maintenance, and installation, and retrofit equipment to ensure continuous operation; Inspect/validate quality of work, troubleshoot/resolve product quality issues; Monitor day-to-day cleaning activities and hygiene practices on production floor ensuring GMP standards are maintained in manufacturing facility; Oversee completion of production paperwork and logs/records on production floor; Enforce company policies and procedures by training, directing, and evaluating performance; Ensure manufacturing and quality processes in the facility comply with FDA-cGMP, FDA-FSMA regulations, and SQF standards, GDP, SQF, Food Fraud and Food Defense, OSHA-30, HACCP, and Lean Six Sigma; Address issues with non-conforming product to ensure proper control, minimize losses, and prevent future occurrences; Work with manufacturing staff to establish procedures, standards, and systems for new products/processes, while acting as catalyst for change/improvement in overall quality performance in production; Increase quality, productivity, efficiency, and cost savings; Investigate/solve operational problems affecting production and reporting; Maintain organization of production/storage areas; Reduce waste, increase efficiency by suggesting changes/improvements in manufacturing; Set/achieve departmental objectives to support overall organizational objectives; Write technical reports and continual improvement plans for products/processes. Job Requirements: Masters degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or related science field and 3 years of Process Engineer experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Must possess at least 3 years of experience in the following: FDA-cGMP, FDA-FSMA regulations and SQF standards, GDP, SQF, HACCP, Food Fraud and Food Defense; Manufacturing and Quality processes; Product development and product improvement; Process improvement.
