Location: NYC, NY USA Salary: 150 - 200, Department: Engineering/Design Reports To: Engineering Manager Job Overview: The Mechanical Engineer plays a role in developing, designing, and improving mechanical systems and components within various industries, including automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, and construction. This position involves applying mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, and materials science principles to design products and systems that meet functional, safety, and efficiency standards. Key Responsibilities: Design and analyze mechanical systems, components, and equipment, using computer-aided design (CAD) software to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety. Conduct research, prototype development, and testing to evaluate equipments feasibility, design, operation, or performance. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, develop design proposals, and deliver solutions that meet or exceed expectations. Optimize and improve product designs for better performance, efficiency, and sustainability. Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing processes and product installation. Conduct failure analysis, troubleshoot issues, and recommend modifications to eliminate future problems. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering. Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Proven experience in mechanical engineering or a related role, with a strong portfolio of successful project implementations. Proficiency in CAD and engineering simulation software. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of industry-standard design codes and regulations. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus. Work Environment: This role primarily operates in an office setting but may require visits to manufacturing plants, construction sites, or research laboratories. The Mechanical Engineer will frequently collaborate with production teams, suppliers, and clients, which may involve occasional travel. Physical Requirements: The job may involve occasional lifting of lightweight materials, prolonged sitting during design phases, and walking through industrial or construction sites to inspect or test mechanical systems.
