Job Description:

Our client, a leading Canadian mining company with long-standing operations and capital projects in central Canada, is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer on a contract basis.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise relating to electrical engineering on both maintenance and projects throughout the mine
  • Design, implement and/or support control systems, power systems, and computer/IT systems.
  • Design and troubleshoot automation controls (PLCs and instrumentation) and HMIs (SCADA) in accordance with industry best practices
  • Opportunity to give and receive guidance in a collaborative team of other electrical engineers and technologists working towards shared department goals
  • Drive excellence in safe engineering practices by furthering project quality and thoroughness


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered as a professional engineer or eligible for registration with APEGS to work towards a P. Eng designation
  • 2-10 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in the mining industry
  • Proven leadership skills and Supervisory experience would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Strong knowledge of varied electrical equipment and technical advances in the field
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical codes and technical schematics
  • Operations and Maintenance technical assistance
  • Maintenance and design of modern control systems and related IT infrastructure
  • Engineering, maintenance, project, and/or operations experience at an operating facility or heavy industrial site is considered an asset
