Senior Mechanical Engineer - Interiors & Cabin Systems

Location: Montreal, QC (Laval)

Type: Full-Time Hybrid


About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Interiors & Cabin Systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing mechanical components and systems that contribute to the development of a next-generation, all-electric, autonomous aircraft. Your expertise will directly support the creation of safe, efficient, and innovative solutions for urban air mobility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of interior systems including seating, trim, and furnishings.
  • Integrate environmental control system (ECS) components into the aircraft structure.
  • Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
  • Manage the release of engineering documentation using tools like Teamcenter.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of cabin elements such as ECS, lighting, and trim into the overall aircraft design.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and vendors for component development and validation.
  • Support manufacturing and quality teams by addressing issues related to cabin systems and non-conforming hardware.
  • Conduct mechanical and thermal analyses to validate and optimize designs.
  • Perform trade studies to evaluate design options based on weight, cost, structural integrity, and safety.
  • Participate in structural and flammability testing, including planning, execution, and data evaluation.
  • Propose design improvements and support product maturity throughout the development cycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals including statics, dynamics, and structural mechanics.
  • Proficient with CAD software (Siemens NX preferred, SolidWorks acceptable).
  • Familiarity with GD&T and the ability to create and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing processes and resolving hardware non-conformances.

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and certification processes.
  • Proven leadership in managing cross-functional or integrated project teams.
  • Background in field engineering or long-term product support.
