Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a Direct Hire position with a client in Boise, Idaho (Preferred), Denver, CO, or Sacramento, CA.
Salary Range: $80 to $125K base salary
Hybrid: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote in one of the 3 locations listed below

Must have a PE License in the current state, and the client will support getting licensed in the other states.
Position Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer (PE), you will share your expertise while designing facility mechanical systems, including HVAC, compressed air, and plumbing systems for custom industrial applications. Your work will involve the technical development of schematics, design, construction documents, specifications, and construction administration.
You should have the ability to perform detailed HVAC and plumbing system design with minimal supervision. Your technical skills should show an awareness of effective system design and the ability to design and optimize a process for maximum efficiency. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills will be key to your success, with your willingness to teach and mentor team members, as well as being a progressive thinker and leading the team forward. This position requires motivated, self-starting individuals able to interact positively with team members and clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Mechanical engineering design of HVAC and plumbing systems for institutional, retail, and commercial building projects.
- Specify and size mechanical equipment such as air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, and compressors, including system selection and layout.
- Perform and prepare HVAC load calculations and other various engineering calculations, and well-coordinated, technically sound construction documents that are cost-effective, clear, efficient, and constructible.
- Research and analyze data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of the design or application.
- Develop and manage project scope, budgets, schedules, QA/QC review, and client expectations, ensuring that cost, customer service, quality, schedule, and safety are incorporated into the design from commencement through completion.
- Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Construction administration including review of submittals, response to RFI's, and coordination with contractors, design team, building officials, owner, etc. through the construction phase of the building project.
- Perform field observations of mechanical systems, attend meetings, and make recommendations for design systems.
- Familiarity with building management system design.
- Produce effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memoranda.
- Communicate and coordinate with architects, owners, other engineering disciplines, vendors, consultants, etc., throughout the design phases of the building project.
- Meet client schedules as well as internal design and construction administration time budgets.
- May coordinate the work of designers and engineers-in-training.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in any jurisdiction.
- A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the design of mechanical and HVAC systems.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of International Codes and the ability to apply these codes to system design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with energy modeling software
