Title: Interconnection Engineer/Power System /Electrical Engineer

Location: Remote (PST hours)

Duration: 12+ Months

Description:

Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload

  • Assisting the engineers to perform and conduct load interconnection studies, battery energy storage system charging table studies, generation interconnection studies.
  • Perform review of Generation Interconnection Requests, under the WDAT and Rule 21 Tariff, ensuring technical data is complete and appropriate to perform a study. Review will also include Rule 21 or WDAT screens evaluation to determine if further studies are required. Studies may vary depending on the interconnection request and screens evaluation results and may include power flow, short-circuit duty, voltage analysis, and nay other relevant technical analysis needed to enable interconnection of the new resources ensuring safety and reliability is maintained.
  • Perform review of load interconnection studies on existing electrical infrastructure and determine capacity requirements and potential system enhancements.
  • Perform Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) charging Table studies by run cases and post-process results and developing the charging availability table.
  • As part of these effort, the contractor/engineer may be required to create one-line diagrams, study reports, and review Generation Interconnection Agreements.

Required Skills/Attributes

  • Proficient in PSLF, Proficient in Power World, Excel (some knowledge), be able to articulate results
  • Experience with power system analysis studies including power flow and short circuit analysis. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.

Desired Skills/Attributes

  • Experience with load interconnection and generation interconnection studies including power flow and short-circuit analysis. Experience performing technical reviews of Net Energy Metering (NEM) projects. Knowledge of the Rule 21 Tariff and the WDAT. Experience with Google Earth Pro and power system analysis software (GE PSLF, PowerWorld, and CAPE)

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline required
