Job Description:

Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading the development, verification, and documentation of electrical and avionics engineering solutions for complex rotorcraft modification programs. This includes producing drawings, models, technical reports, and specifications, and working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders including FAA regulators and military customers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and analysis of new electrical and avionics systems for rotorcraft platforms
  • Provide technical support across programs, ensuring schedule and quality requirements are met
  • Design aircraft electrical power distribution and interface systems for STCs and Field Approvals
  • Modify and improve existing electrical systems to support evolving operational needs
  • Generate wiring schematics, cable diagrams, and harness fabrication documents using AutoCAD
  • Create and maintain supplemental design documentation such as:
  • Electrical load analysis
  • System safety assessments and failure modes analysis
  • Test plans and reports
  • Maintenance and installation instructions
  • Coordinate certification packages and activities with the FAA and internal certification personnel
  • Support prototyping, manufacturing, testing, and troubleshooting during system integration
  • Ensure all designs comply with FAA regulations, company standards, and MIL specifications


Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience in aircraft or rotorcraft electrical/avionics systems
  • Strong understanding of FAA certification processes and aircraft modification standards
  • Experience interpreting OEM documentation, wiring diagrams, and system integration manuals


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical system design
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178, and related standards
  • Solid knowledge of aircraft communication, navigation, and power systems
  • Skilled in generating technical reports, system specifications, and certification data packages


Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and lead collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple projects concurrently


Preferred:

  • DER designation or prior experience working closely with a DER
  • Experience supporting military aircraft programs or rotorcraft modernization efforts
