Aurea Technologies Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its innovative team at Burnside Business Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a leader in portable renewable energy solutions, Aurea has developed the world's most powerful and user-friendly small-scale wind turbines. The successful candidate will be integral in transforming early-stage CAD designs of new products into production-ready assemblies and participating in rugged field-testing deployments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine CAD models of wind turbine assemblies for manufacturability and production
- Prepare engineering drawings and documentation to support prototyping and scaled manufacturing
- Collaborate with the product development team to develop new innovative turbine designs for defence, consumer, and commercial applications
- Product testing in remote and off-grid field locations, including data collection and troubleshooting
- Identify and resolve mechanical design issues impacting product performance or production efficiency
- Support compliance with CE, UL, CSA, UKCA, and other relevant certifications
- Production Readiness - including tolerance stack-up analysis, fastener selections, and BOM generation
- Interface with suppliers and internal procurement to ensure timely component sourcing
- Maintain version control and updates to mechanical designs as changes are implemented
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution
- Must have a P.Eng. designation (or equivalent, with eligibility for registration in Nova Scotia)
- At least 4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in a product development or R&D setting
- Proficiency with CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Inventor)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, casting, CNC machining, etc.)
- Mechanical drawing interpretation, tolerance analysis, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Experience in renewable energy, field-ready technology, or rugged product design is a strong asset
- Must be able and willing to travel and work in remote or austere environments for field testing purposes
