Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead and oversee process design and development activities for complex projects in the energy, chemical, or manufacturing sectors. This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality technical deliverables, supporting project execution phases, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in process engineering, strong project leadership capabilities, and a commitment to engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in the creation of process design deliverables, including:
- Heat and material balances
- Process flow diagrams (PFDs)
- Process equipment sizing and specifications
- Preliminary hydraulic and utility balances
- Basic instrumentation and control strategies
- Materials of construction and safety system requirements
- Oversee and review the work of engineering contractors to ensure compliance with company standards, project specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Conduct and guide process optimization and feasibility studies to evaluate cost savings, design alternatives, and performance improvements.
- Support and participate in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies and risk assessments for both new and modified facilities.
- Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and startup of new or modified systems and equipment.
- Assist in defining project scopes, resource planning, and team organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in process engineering within the refining, petrochemical, chemical, or related heavy industrial sectors
- Demonstrated experience in front-end engineering design (FEED) and detailed engineering phases of capital projects
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation and industry standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and process engineering software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ProMax, or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English (verbal and written)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility
- Experience working directly with or for engineering contractors
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, IEC)
- Prior experience leading commissioning/startup efforts
